Overall there were no technical glitches in the video. The clips were edited and placed well together, adding to the comical aspect of the video. The only thing that could have been beneficial to the video would be to increase the volume of the talents voice or lower the volume of the music track. At some points of the video the actor’s voice is hard to understand because it is drowned out by the music

The Rap Song in the middle of the video is well placed. It breaks up the video which keeps the viewers interest longer. The rap video was very funny.

I think overall the video was fun to watch. It was very comedic. The titles were well placed and the video quality was great. The only thing that I would have changed is the volume of the talent’s voice. Other than that I laugh every time I watch it. It gets a solid 4 stars out of 5. Well done!

Facebook is an amazing social networking program in which users can easily keep in contact with friends and loved ones all over the globe. As popular as this tool is, many users overlook or are not made aware of the privacy issues that come with Facebook.

When you sign up for a Facebook account you provide certain personal information such as: your name, age, gender, email, telephone number, and address. Usually when a person signs up for a computer account seldom do they actually read through the terms of use or the privacy policy. They’re so long that you would have to sit there for hours just to skim through it. As well, it seems to be written in a different language. So it is understandable that users just agree to the terms of service and privacy policy. The terms of service for Facebook state that:

“For content that is covered by intellectual property rights, like photos and videos (“IP content”), you specifically give us the following permission, subject to your privacy and application settings: you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use any IP content that you post on or in connection with Facebook (“IP License”). This IP License ends when you delete your IP content or your account unless your content has been shared with others, and they have not deleted it.”

This basically means that if you post a picture or video on Facebook you give them the rights to that content. They go on to say that this ends when you delete your account unless the content has been shared. One of the things I found interesting while researching Facebook privacy issues was that you can easily deactivate your account but there is no clear information on how to delete your account. So even though you have deactivated your account, Facebook still has the rights to your personal information and the content that you have posted on the site.

“When you delete IP content, it is deleted in a manner similar to emptying the recycle bin on a computer. However, you understand that removed content may persist in backup copies for a reasonable period of time (but will not be available to others).”

When you deactivate your account or delete information from your account, Facebook is unclear about the amount of time your information will be stored. This is in violation to a Canadian privacy law. Canada’s Privacy Commissioner Jennifer Stoddart is currently investigating this situation and is fighting to have Facebook declare an amount of time in which they will have access to the information.

Facebook sets security and privacy defaults when you sign up for an account that allows everyone to see your information. They tell you all about this in the privacy policy but go on to say if you don’t like that fact then change it in your settings. If you are a user that is not computer savvy and has not read Facebook’s privacy policy then you would be none the wiser. This leaves the backdoor open for Facebook to access your information. Facebook should make the privacy information more public so that users will know how to protect themselves.

One of the most controversial issues with Facebook privacy is the applications. When you accept an application you are letting the application gather your personal information and the information of anyone you have on your friends list to use as they please. If any of the applications are corrupt they could expose you and your Facebook friends to malicious use of your confidential information.

When mp3 players became popular, I begged my mother to buy me one for Christmas. 5 years later, it’s an obsolete 3 pound brick. I love listening to music and I needed an mp3 player that was small and easy to use. My friend suggested an iPod because he said they are reliable and fairly inexpensive. So after some investigation I went out and bought a 3^rd Generation 4 GB iPod Nano and it was definitely worth it. I have never used apple products before, the iPod is my first. I was a little hesitant at first but when I realized how easy it was to use I was hooked.

The iPod only weighs 49.2 grams and is thin enough to forget it’s even in your pocket. The battery life is pretty reasonable and it’s very easy to charge. I use a computer fairly regularly so it’s just a matter of plugging it in. I listen to my iPod for a couple hours a day and the battery lasts about 3 to 4 days. It also has a 2 inch display screen with a 320X240 resolution.

There are so many features of the iPod that are very convenient: contacts, calendars, alarms, a stopwatch, voice memos, notes and games. There is also a photo viewer and a video player. I love the album art feature; while you are listening to a song you can see a picture of that songs album cover. Also you can adjust the lighting on your screen and the volume equalizer settings to match your preferences and headphones.

One of the best aspects of owning an iPod is the iTunes software. Other mp3 players that I have owned came with confusing software which was just frustrating. iTunes is very easy to use and updates regularly. You can easily import your CD’s and create playlists in iTunes for your iPod. You can buy music from the iTunes store and download movies and TV shows for your video player. I have yet to take advantage of the video player but I have seen it in action. The resolution is great; you almost forget that you are watching a video on a 2 inch screen.

Overall, I love my iPod and I take it with me everywhere I go. It is so easy to use and it was reasonably priced. I know it is reliable and it offers so many awesome features. I would recommend the iPod to anyone that is interested in portable mp3 players.

The Programmer

Code is everywhere. Since she has learned coding The Programmer has begun to  see code in everything. She has started to blend it in to everyday life. For example: function is there any milk for cereal(){return false;}. She also dreams about code; usually around midterms and finals. Knowing code makes it that much easier to understand how things work. Everything is code in disguise.

The Designer

Along the same lines as The Programmer, The Designer is always analyzing. Everything from posters and television commercials to movies and songs. It’s as if learning the principles of design has opened her eyes and made her ask why? Why did they use that font? Why did they use that special effect there? Why is that commercial actually being shown on television?

The Photographer

The Photographer is always ready to take a picture. Although it may not seem like it, The Photographer knows where the light is coming from at all times and what pose would be best for the setting. She is always on her guard for the perfect picture opportunity.

The Editor

The Editor has always been in a never-ending battle with The Perfectionist. Sometimes The Editor wins and sometimes she loses. She has to struggle to step back from The Perfectionist and pretend to be The Consumer.

The Audio Junkie

The Audio Junkie is all about music; how it was created and how to recreate it. She loves hearing a fresh sound and dislikes the same music being played over and over on the radio. The Audio Junkie has a very eclectic taste in music and will listen to anything once.

I am not always the savviest person when it comes to technology. I try to keep up as much as possible but it is such a rapidly developing field that there is so much to learn. That is also why I like technology. It is not repetitive or boring. There is always something to talk about in terms of the changes in technology. Also it is such a broad subject. There is so much to do and be interested in.

I am not really sure what field I am going to want to pursue when I graduate. There are so many careers that I could follow. I have a general idea of the area I would like to continue with. I like web development. I enjoy designing and developing web pages. I thought I would enjoy video and sound development but I turns out I don’t really like any of that. Code is starting to make more sense now. I didn’t realize how much code is involved in developing a web page! I thought most of the work was designing the page. I like web development because on one side of it once you know the code you know it. There may be some changes over time but it’s pretty cut and dry. The other side is the design which is always changing. Someone is always coming up with new styles and techniques. It is always evolving. Designing a web page is like creating a piece of art. I love to paint, sew and create art when I am not at school so designing web pages is a chance to create art when I am in school. I love surfing the web to find web pages that are funky and have new design elements.This way I get to keep up on what’s going on in the world of web design. There is a lot of work left to do in this course and I am sure it is going to be a pain, but I excited to see the change from school to a business setting.
